Harold Albert Smelcer

Harold Albert Smelcer, age 80 of New Market, TN, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023.  He retired from the State Of Tennessee Highway Department after 44 years.  He loved to spend his time farming and doing mechanic work.  He was a member of Grant’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  He is preceded in death by parents, Loonie Albert Smelcer and Elvie Mae Wright Smelcer and father-in-law, Talley Monroe Pressley.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nola Jean Smelcer, daughter, Kim (Shane) Smelcer Ferguson, grandchildren, Abbie Shanea Ferguson and Erin Elaine Ferguson, brother, James (Sue) Smelcer, mother-in-law, Louise Pressley, brothers-in-law, Kenneth Pressley and Bobby Pressley, special friend, Donald Whaley, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with Rev. Kathy LaFollette and Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating.  Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Charles Shipley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
