Harold (Harry) D. Snyder, Sr. (92) of Hagerstown, MD passed away Saturday April 19, 2025 at his home.
Born November 7, 1932 in Shippensburg, PA, he was the son of the late Helen (Rudisill) Snyder and John J. Snyder. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Kountz, and Janice Snyder; three brothers; Richard, John, and Ralph Snyder and his first wife Shirley (Middlekauff) Snyder.
He was a 1950 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1952-1956 and was stationed in Ohio at the 664th Active Radar Station. He also worked at Pangborn, Western Maryland Railroad (Signal Dept.) and Mack Truck for 36 years and was a member of Local 171 where he was an Union Steward.
He was a member of Washington Square Methodist Church and was a member of P.W.P. of F.O.E 694 Aerie and Funkstown Post 211 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Jean (Troupe) Snyder, married August 12, 2002 and two daughters; Teresa, husband John Muck, Tina, husband Rick Schindler; two sons Harold Jr., and Michael, wife Shirley, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a stepdaughter Julie and husband Todd Faith, and a step-son Steve and wife Chris Barnes as well as step-grandchildren.
At his request, a graveside service will be private and conducted at a later date.
