Harold L. “Sparky” Sparks passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Tuesday Oct 21 st , just a few days shy of his 93 rd birthday.
Sparky proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Navy prior to starting his career as a petroleum engineer. He spent 20 years in marketing and sales with IBM where he was part of the team that launched the IBM PC, and then served as an executive with several start-up companies like Compaq Computer Corporation in the computer and software industry.
Sparky was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of Grace Community Church in Boca Raton. He spent his retirement years tooling around South Florida in a little redPorsche, visiting friends and family, and sharing his life with others. He will be remembered for his indomitable spirit and kindness, love of sailing, and devotion to his family.
Sparky was predeceased by his wife Cammie, son David, parents Lester and Ada, and his sister Janet. Sparky is survived by his children and their spouses: Leslie (Dave), Michael (Katie), and Tim (Debbie). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: James (Michelle), Christopher, Emily, Kevin, Jack, and Henry.
Sparky will be laid to rest in Independence, Kansas next to his wife and son in a private family ceremony on November 1 st .
