Harold Lynwood "Buddy" Stanley, 88, of Elkton, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at English Meadows Assisted Living in Harrisonburg. Mr. Stanley was born July 5, 1937, in Elkton, Virginia and was the son of the late Talley Ran and Blanch Beulah Stoneberger Stanley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles R. and Eugene Stanley and three sisters, Phyllis Shifflett, Janice Stanley, and Maxine Morris.
Buddy served our county with the United States Airforce and was Honorably Discharged in September 1959. He retired from VDOT after 30 years of service, where he was a Transportation Operator and Flagger. He attended Elkton Pentecostal Church and Elkton Mennonite Church. He enjoyed bowling with his team, coaching Little League and Farm League Baseball, and being a "Pool Shark" at the Community Center playing pool. His biggest joy was being a "Paw-Paw" to his granddaughter.
On April 19, 1963, he married Lois Ann Shifflett Stanley who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gregory Scott Stanley and wife, Melissia, as well as his granddaughter, Taylor Brooke Stanley.
A Funeral Service will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, with Pastor Carter Dean and Pastor Travis Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2025 at the funeral home.
