Harold R. Stewart, 82, passed away Thursday Sept 28, 2023, at home, surrounded by loved ones.
Harold was born in Flemington, WV and was the son of Evie Veral Stewart and Evelyn Baritell Stewart Smith. He spent his childhood and adult life in Painesville and Northfield, OH. He is a graduate of Riverside High School in Painesville. He retired to Pawley's Island, SC in 1996, where he remained until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Stewart. He is also preceded in death by his wives Sharon Clark Stewart (1963-1975) and Joanne Kisiel Godzich Stewart (1976-2019).
He is survived by his children Scott Stewart (Holly Hancock) of Ponte Vedra, FL, Steven Godzich (Karen) of Ponte Vedra, FL and Joell Godzich Okko (Maad) of Aliso Viejo, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael Okko, Nicholas Godzich, Sabine Okko Shah (Jay) and Ryan Okko and his great granddaughter Lily Shah, his sister-in-law Susan Stewart and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Maureen O'Connell, his partner of recent years.
Harry worked as a machinist, a draftsman and a plant manager for Swagelok in Solon, Ohio for 36 years prior to retiring to the Tradition. He was also an antique dealer with three antique shops (Act One Antiques). In his early adult life, he was also a race car driver who won many trophies. He was an amateur photographer, history buff and car aficionado. He was a passionate Cleveland sports fan and an avid golfer. He loved to cruise and went on more than 20 cruises with Joanne and many of his friends from the Tradition. Harry was a Tradition resident for 27 years where he was an active and original member of the Tradition Men's Golf Association. He was a member of the Gold Tees and the Apostles. He won several golf tournaments, including the Member-Guest in 2000, in 2004 (with his son Scott) and again in 2014. He won the President's Cup in 2016. He and Joanne were frequent volunteers at the Tradition, and he served on the HOA board from 2004-2007. He was also known as the neighborhood fix-it guy, house sitter and lender of tools and yard equipment. Harry spent the past 4 years navigating the pandemic, laughing, traveling, golfing and visiting family with his constant companion, Maureen O'Connell. She provided tireless, loving care for him during his prolonged illness, for which his family is eternally grateful.
He will be deeply missed. The family asks that donations to the First Tee or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital charities be made instead of flowers or other gifts.
A celebration of life service will be held from 1-4 PM, Saturday, November 11th at the Litchfield Beach House in Pawley's Island, SC.

I knew Harry working at Swagelok. He was always a happy fun loving guy who made you laugh. I will never forget his smile and friendship. He will be missed.

Harry was Ashok´s colleague from Swagelok and he was a huge help to Ashok in very which way. We were just settling into our new apartment. We had no dining table yet. But had invited Harry for dinner and he was so gracious about making us comfortable. We all ate buffet style while Harry shared stories of their first household.
Harry and JoAnn remained dear friends for a lifelong. We had the most enjoyable time when they visited us in Seattle and also when we visited them in Myrtle Beach.
