Harold Ray Updegrave, 87, of Valley View, passed away August 3, 2022 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community, Mount Carmel, PA.
He was born on February 26, 1935 in Gratz, PA, a son of Russell A. and Mary E Williard Updegrave.
Harold was a graduate of graduate of the former Hegins Township High School, Class of 1953.
He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of SP-5 serving 9 1/2 years overseas, with 3 deployments in Germany.
Harold was a Equipment Operator for 25 years for Wayne W. Knorr Inc. Contracting, Bloomsburg.
He was a lifetime member of the Hegins Valley Fire & Rescue, and also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Millersburg.
Harold was an avid fisher and hunter and enjoyed camping and traveling to Canada, Florida and Delaware with his wife and family.
He took pride in serving the Hegins Valley Fire Police and made many friends. His beloved pets Nipper and Mac will be buried with him per his request.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn M. Updegrave, on December 8, 2020, after 62 years of marriage.
Harold is survived by two sisters, Jeannette Smith of Valley View, and Ruthann Flannery of Hegins, as well as nieces and nephews.
Burial with military honors was held at St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Harold's name can be made to the Hegins Valley Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 146, Hegins PA 17938.
Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, Pennsylvania is in charge of arrangements.
