Harold Wiggett, 75, of east Greeley died Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home. He was born April 2, 1935 in Gilcrest, CO to George and Eva (Flohr) Wiggett. He attended Gilcrest and Evans schools. Harold married Virginia Brethauer on February 6, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Greeley. As a young man, he was employed as a plasterer. After completing the plumber apprenticeship, he became a journeyman plumber and later earned his master's license working for local #3 which he worked for, for 50 years. During the 70's, he owned his own business, Wiggett Plumbing and Heating. He then retired in 1999 from North Colorado Medical Center as a plumber in the maintenance department. Serving in various capacities for both the Western Hills/Union Colony Fire Department and Orange Ditch Company, he was recently recognized for those years of service. He was also a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. In his retirement, he did custom hay baling. He also raised cattle for slaughter providing meat for 40 different families over the course of many years. The garden, which was lovingly grown every summer, will be missed by all who enjoyed the harvest. He was an avid sportsman and could be found attending or watching the Broncos, Rockies and NASCAR. Harold and Virginia were married 55 years. He loved his family with his whole heart and was a good friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Virginia and sons Alan (Dawn) and Rick, daughter Vickie (Troy), grandchildren Blaise, Derek (Tiffany), BreAnna, Katie and Allison, great-grandchildren Nathanial and Piper, sisters, Helen, Arlene and Marian and a brother Jerry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George and an infant daughter Bonnie Jean. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Service 10 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rocky Mountain Hospice or Western Hills Fire Department in care of Allnutt, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
