Harrell Dean Post, Sr., 78, a longtime area resident passed away at his home on Tuesday Dec 17, 2024. Harrell was born on July 1, 1946 in Seminole OK to Ray and Hazel (Simpson) Post. Harrell graduated from Seminole High School with the class of 1965. He obtained an Associate's degree from NEO A&M College, and while continuing his education at OSU he joined the United States Army and served honorably for two years. Harrell then worked in management at BF Goodrich until it's closing in 1986. He was well known as an honest and transparent businessman. He was a real estate broker, an active (and busy) auctioneer, and was the owner and founder of Surplus City and Post Properties in Miami. Mr. Post was the mayor of Miami for two terms and served on the fair board for many years. He and Janice were blessed with 25 wonderful years together. His love for his family was unmatched. He helped the grandkids with their show cattle and pigs, tried to never miss an event they were in, and embarrass them every chance he got! He loved to work, care for his cattle, and spend countless hours on his tractor. Harrell loved the Lord most of all and put all of his trust in his savior knowing that God had a perfect plan for his life. He served as trustee at Immanuel Baptist Church and was the choir director for many years. The last few years he spent growing his faith at Commerce First Assembly.
Harrell's passing will leave a huge hole in the lives of his family. Harrell leaves behind his wife Janice, his daughter Michelle Christman and her husband Lance of Miami, his son Dean Post and his wife Chris of Miami, and his step-son James Burnette and his wife Jennifer of Ozark, Missouri. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Parker Christman and his wife Kara, Carter Christman, Holly Christman, Taylor Post, Leslie Burnette, and Hunter Burnette. Harrell's shining example will live on in his family, and his favorite saying has definitely come true – "You'll miss me when I'm gone."
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami.
Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Howie Moss, Reverend Paul Simpson, and Reverend Mark Nickles officiating. Interment will follow at the Glen-Abbey Memorial Garden east of Miami under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Casketbearers will be Parker Christman, Carter Christman, Lance Christman, George Hubbard, Jeff Reynolds, Hunter Burnette, and George Underwood.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Gideon's International for Bibles.
Friends and family may send the family notes of encouragement by viewing Mr. Post's Tribute Page at www.brown-winters.com.
