Harriette "Ann" Thompson, 92, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 8, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born July 21, 1933, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, to Halbert and Anna Sluder. As the eldest of four children, she set an enduring example of love, strength, and dedication. She graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1950.

That same year, Ann married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bob Thompson. Together they raised four children-Steve, Randy, Karen, and Kent-while moving across the country and living in several different states they created a lifetime of cherished memories. In 1982, Ann and Bob built their dream home on Table Rock Lake, where countless days were spent boating, water skiing, and gathering with children, grandchildren, and friends. Ann delighted in keeping the kitchen full and the house open to all. After eleven years, they settled in Springfield to be closer to family. Ann and Bob shared fifty-eight years of marriage before Bob's passing in 2008.

Ann was a devoted mother whose unwavering love and faith shaped her life. Strong, independent, and caring, she was also fun-loving and joyful. She was her family's greatest cheerleader and steady foundation. She never missed a chance to support her grandchildren-whether at birthdays, weddings, sporting events, or graduations. Her infectious laugh and radiant presence will be deeply missed.

She was also a woman of many talents: a gifted seamstress, quilter, crafter, and cook. One treasured heirloom is a recipe book she compiled with her daughter Karen, preserving recipes from family and friends. Ann lovingly made each family member at least one handmade quilt, gifts that will be cherished for generations. Her faith was central to her life. In Des Moines, she served faithfully at Airport Baptist Church, and for more than twenty years she was a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield.

Ann is survived by her children Randy Thompson (wife Debbie), Karen Brooks (husband Butch) and Kent Thompson (wife Darlyne); daughter-in-law Cindy Thompson; siblings Ronald Sluder, Carol Vandivort and Kenneth Sluder; eight grandchildren-Brett (partner Chelsea), Chelsea (husband Justin), Blake (wife Mindy), Lance (wife Tiffanie), Nicole, Madelyne (husband Jorge), and Hannah (husband Jimmy); eight great-grandchildren-Mackenzie, Talon, Taylor, Mason, Maelee, Tinley, Ella, Josias-and a great-grandson soon to arrive. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Halbert and Anna Sluder; her husband, Bob Thompson; her son, Steve Thompson; her grandson, Tanner Thompson; and her great-granddaughter, Reece Wilson.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Ann's longtime caregiver, Patty Letterman, Dr. Hoerschgen, and his nurse Chrisy Daney from Fresenius Kidney Care for their exceptional care and compassion during her long illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Oaks Mission or The Ronald McDonald House both located in Springfield, Missouri.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65804. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Following the service, burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3600 N. National, Springfield, MO 65803.
