Harry Daniel Bullard passed away on December 31, 2023, at the age of 84. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Green Hills Funeral Home. Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30am-1:00pm. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery with Bill Stone, Hunter Motes, Halston Motes, Trey Davis, Tanner Oakes, and David Sanders serving as pallbearers.
A native of Pike County, Harry was raised in the Mt. Moriah Community. He attended Harmony and Troy High School. Harry went to work in his teens as a truck driver with Wiley Sanders. After a brief stint in the Alabama National Guard- Trucking Company 659, Harry learned to weld while working at Anderson Welding. He built and repaired log truck frames as well as other large equipment. Then in 1965 he joined his brother Glen Bullard at Bullard’s garage where they served the Pike County community. He spent almost 50 years designing, building, and repairing industrial equipment. He built many large industrial pieces for Sanders Lead and later worked closely with Kenny Campbell to build equipment for KW Plastics and KW Recycling. Many handcrafted handrails, staircases, and truck bumpers are all throughout Pike County that Harry Bullard built. Generous with his time and talents, families in our community have been supported well because of Harry’s engineering and mechanical skills. He was a patient and hardworking man that took ideas and worked long hard hours until he figured out a design. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle with his brother, Glen, and was a long-time member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Harry retired in 2014 to enjoy his grandchildren, and work on the farm. He was a southern gentleman, and his quiet, funny nature will be missed by all who knew him.
Loving survivors include his wife of 53 years, Karen Bullard; daughter, Amanda Challancin (Mark); grandchildren, Hope Challancin, John Mark Challancin; and his brother, Glen E. Bullard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse D. & Nettie B Bullard; sister, Willie Mae Bullard; and brother, W. Jerry Bullard.
The family would like to thank his devoted caregivers for their kindness during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1053 County Rd 1111, Troy, Alabama.
The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bullard family.
