In Loving Memory,
Harry J. Colby, age eighty-seven, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
He was married to the love of his life, Monica Colby, for 41 wonderful years. Together they built a life with fantastic memories of family gatherings, sharing meals with friends, and traveling the world.
He was a proud father to Caren Root (Michael), joyful grandfather to Jason Meek (Kayleigh) and Thomas Meek, and great-grandfather to Tyler, Carter, Harper, Thomas, and Jack. His love for his family was boundless and he prayed for them nightly.
Harry was born on February 27, 1938, in Topeka Kansas; lived a short time in the Chicago area; then Southern California became home. He enlisted in the Army in May 1957, serving mostly in Germany. Honorably discharged in 1960 he continued his service in the US Army Corpe (Reserve) California until 1963. Earned commendations in sharpshooting and marksmanship. Awarded good conduct medal.
A true enthusiast, Harry had a passion for auto racing and fine wine. He could often be found tinkering under the hood or sharing his knowledge with anyone who shared his enthusiasm. His eyes lit up at the sound of a roaring engine or the clink of glasses among friends.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His large extended family are comforted knowing he is with his Lord and Savior.
Celebration of Life is July 19, contact immediate family for location.
In lieu of flowers you may donate to two of Harry's favorite charities. St Jude Ranch for Children – Spring Branch, Texas Canyon Lake Animal Shelter Society
Rest in peace my love, Monica
