Harry D Cottrell, 92 of Antwerp, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Vancrest of Payne.
Harry was born in Antwerp on February 17, 1931, a son of the late Florence (Kemerer) and Edwin Cottrell.
Harry was known for his basketball skills during high school and made the “All County” basketball team for four years. As a young man, Harry served in the Army Reserves for three years. Everyone depended on Harry for the best plastering work in the area. He was also a farmer who took pride in his fields around the county. He enjoyed songs by the Sons of the Pioneers, making birdhouses to put in the woods, and reading George Forrest poetry. Harry also enjoyed watching Ohio State football, keeping up with the Antwerp Archer sports teams, sitting on his front porch rocking chair, and watching The Lawrence Welk Show. Harry beamed with pride during visits with his great-grandchildren when they filled his living room floor with toys and looked forward to visits with his canine companions, Brooke and Thor.
Harry will be sadly missed by his children, Maurice (Karen) & Gary Cottrell, Barbara (Ted) Robey, and Pam Alford; grandchildren, Kelsey (Blaine), Natalie (Zach), and his great grandchildren Braylon, Braxton, Marshall, Aylah, Cora and Walker Joe. He will also be missed by his siblings, Bob (Cathy) Cottrell, Linda (Rex) Hurni & Betty (Kenton) Stairhime.
He was also preceded in death by his wives, Darlene (Sunday) & Marianne (Marlin); his brothers, Ivan & Estel "Stretch" Cottrell, sisters Helen Cottrell and Catherine Killian and his twin sister, Harriett Landwerlen.
