Wayne Crutcher, a cherished father, brother, and grandfather, peacefully departed this world on October 22, 2025, at his daughter's home in Brighton, Tennessee. Born on September 13, 1951, in Somerville, Tennessee, Wayne lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and a profound love for his family.
For 24 years, Wayne served as a retired riverboat captain, a career that reflected his deep connection with the waterways of the region he loved. In addition to his vibrant professional life, he also proudly served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1972 to 1978, embodying the spirit of service that defined much of his character.
Wayne's hobbies were as rich as his life experiences. He found joy in the simple pleasures, from cutting grass and riding his motorcycle to engaging in spirited card games. He relished cookouts and family get-togethers, cherishing every moment spent with those he loved. A familiar figure in Fayette and Hardeman Counties, he garnered affection from many who knew him.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters, Stacey Morris of Brighton and Robyne "Mandy" Ray and Jim of Millington. His legacy is carried forward by his grandchildren, William and Jalynn Morris, Natalie, Kayla, and Emaleigh Ray, Deena and Jennifer Morris, as well as five great-grandchildren who will forever hold the memories of their grandfather in their hearts. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Frances Sarten and Steve of Covington and a brother, Ray Crutcher and Ann of Memphis.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Walter Crutcher, and mother, Thelma Davis Crutcher, along with his sisters, Virginia Solley and Patricia Wilson, and brothers, Thomas, Claudie, Rickey, Bobby, C.V., Walter Jr., and Charles Crutcher. Their absence will be felt deeply, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the generations that follow.
A visitation will be held on October 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both at Shackelford Funeral Directors in
Bolivar, Tennessee. This gathering serves as a heartfelt tribute to a man whose life was a tapestry woven of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Wayne Crutcher will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering love that will inspire all who knew him.
