Mr Kropp was my inspiration to go to Penn State. I will never forget his Penn State banner in his 4th grade class room at North Mianus School. Both Mr Kropp and Mr Legutko were friends with my parents. All these years later Harry and I have kept in touch and were planning a get together in State College. I learned Spanish from Harry and Ed and went on to become fluent as a result of their teaching . Mr Kropp, you have inspired many. I can still hear you reading Fudge, and Super Fudge ! Just prior to Mr Kropp´s passing I lost my father. He reached out. Condolences to all, and Mr Letgko we will get together in State College to honor Harry

I first met Harry at North Mianus School where he taught 3 of our 4 children over the years. In time I got to know him and Ed as wonderfully talented educators and fun friends. RIP dear friend.

I first met Harry and Ed (as we know, it is hard to say one without the other) in my search for my first real job along the railroad route from New Haven to NYC. When I called the Greenwich foreign language department chairman Jan Caulkin, she immediately put me in touch with Harry and Ed. I had my interview with them in Dunkin´ Donuts in Cos Cob and we spent an hour laughing our heads off and having a great time. A lifelong friendship was born.
Our social life included wonderful Halloween parties, creating singing and dancing skits with our mutual friends Nancy and Israel Chapa, celebrating and dining at Pancho Villa´s restaurant and so many other memorable events.
One thing that bonded us was our love of teaching and sharing our experiences of how to engage our students in the most meaningful ways with an entertaining slant. I can guarantee that whatever children were part of the FLES Spanish program in Greenwich, got the very best.
What was special about Harry for me, was his willingness to live up to his convictions. He strongly supported what he thought was right. And he was pretty vocal about what he thought wasn´t . In any of these expressions, Harry had a remarkable wit and it was always fun to be around him.
My heart goes out to Ed and his valiant support of Harry throughout all these decades and especially during the last days of his illness. The world has lost someone especially special; Harry made everyone who was lucky enough to know him, a better person.
Love,
Karen (Señorita Krukowski )

Harry was the kindest person I´ve ever known. I always look forward to Harry and Ed stopping by Christmas Eve at my grandmother´s house in College Heights. The world lost a wonderful smile this week.
