Bryant-Grant Funeral Home and CrematoryMr. Harry Loran Norris, 77, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his home. Mr. Norris was born January 11, 1948, in Macon, Co. to the late Alex Norris and Beulah Rogers Norris.
Mr. Harry worked and retired after 33 years of service from Highlands Mountain Club. He loved to work every day but on Sundays. He was a faithful member of the Highlands Assembly of God Church in Highlands, NC.
Harry loved the outdoors and God's creation. He would look for ginseng, gardening, chopping wood, fishing, and aggravating his niece, Linda McCall. He loved to eat with his family especially, a big pot of dumplings, gravy biscuits, deer sausage, coconut cake, and a big bag of Cheeto's.
Harry had a deep love was his wife, children, grandchildren, but his greatest love was his love for his Lord, Jesus Christ and the testimony that he lived and shared with others.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Loretta Norris of the home; four children, Lester Norris (Lisa) of Highlands, NC, Michael Norris (Lorraine) of Clayton, GA, Kenneth Norris of Scaly Mountain, and Diane Norris of Franklin, NC; eleven grandchildren, Haley Small, Gavin Small, Kelly Key (Chris), Donnie Shook (Misty), Shane Shook (Danielle) Casondra Webb, Cheyenne Webb, Sierra Thomas, Justin Hudgins, Dylan Hudgins, and Gabe Webb; seventeen great-grandchildren Devin Shook, Jayden Shook, Keaton Shook, Addison Shook, Colten Shook, Carolyn Rose Shook, Tyler Shook, Dalton Key, Mason Key, Kayla Spencer, Brayden Spencer (Kylie), Lexi Shook, Lilly Shook, Nirvana Rose Nelson, Caden Turpin, Easton Thomas, and Willow Jade Nelson; and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by five brothers, L.T. Norris, Clarence Norris, Bill Norris, Joe Norris, and Jerry Norris; and two sisters, Elizabeth Phillips and Betty McCall.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Highlands Assembly of God 165 S. 6th St. Highlands, NC with the Rev. Randy Reed and Aaron Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Highlands Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 477 Highlands, N.C. 28741 or to Scaly Mountain Fire Department P. O. Box 278, Scaly Mountain, NC 28775.
