Harry Wayne Piatt

Harry Wayne Piatt passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the age of just 61 years. He had a strong will to live, and continued as long as he possibly could to rise above his health challenges. He was fortunate to have the support of the staff at Arcadia Senior Living and Hosparus Health. His good friend, James Gissendaner, gave him so much help at the end, and our cousin, Jenny Burns, was with him as he crossed over, letting him know how much he was loved.
"Tiger" was born August 15, 1961 to Iva and Harry Piatt, in Louisville, Kentucky. His family, including his big sisters, Christi and Patti (and all their girlfriends) doted on this charming little boy. He was adventurous, a wild child who loved to ride his bike all over the neighborhood, pushing every boundary he ever came across.
Wayne, as he later liked to be called, attended Westport and Ballard High Schools and Jefferson Community College. He was a lovable, sweet "bad boy" from an early age, with lots of stories that his friends could tell.
He was a musician and always had an affinity for his musician friends, associates and fans. He had other business and entrepreneurial ventures over his lifetime. He was also a big supporter of the Center For Women and Families, and the Home of the Innocents. In all his efforts, he thought big and was a risk-taker. Again, we know his friends could tell us stories
So, in closing, it is hard to believe he has departed this world so soon. He is lovingly remembered as an incorrigible free spirit. We trust he's enfolded in the loving arms of our family waiting for him on the other side.
For those of us left here to miss him in this life, we will hold a memorial service Saturday, September 9 at 3pm, at Pearson's (149 Breckenridge Ln, St. Matthews, KY). Family and friends are invited to gather together after the service at the River Side picnic area by the boat ramp in Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park (3730 River Rd, Louisville) for some barbecue. Fittingly, after our picnic one of his favorite musicians, Johnny Berry, is playing not too far away, under the Pavilion at Louisville Turners (3125 River Road, 8pm, $10 cover). Join us there if you can, ending the day with the kind of good time Wayne would have loved. And who knows, maybe he'll take a peek down at us and smile.
