Grove Funeral HomeHarry Lowe Powers III, age 83, of Hancock, MD, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Cumberland, MD.
Born Saturday, June 13, 1942, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Helen J. Blenard Powers II.
Harry was a graduate of Hancock High School, Class of 1960. He played on the first football team in Hancock. He was the owner/operator of his family’s business, Powers Distributing Company and Powers Seafood Shop in Hagerstown, MD.
He was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church, Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club, and Safari Club International.
Harry was an avid hunter and fisherman, traveling across the United States on numerous hunting and fishing trips. He enjoyed golfing, hiking, and biking. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years Dolores J. Powers of Hancock, MD; three sons, Harry L. Powers IV (Billi) of Hagerstown, MD, Richard L. Powers of Florida, and Timothy L. Powers of Virginia; three daughters, Robin Norris (Mike) of Little Orleans, MD, Amy Trout (Timothy) of Hancock, MD, and Rhonda Orndorff of Berkeley Springs, WV; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Krista Conway of Hagerstown, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Randi Wishard; two sisters, Beverly Exline, and Bonita Brannon.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00a.m., with one hour prior gathering at the church. Pastor Becki Wessinger will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations in Harry’s name can be made to Hancock United Methodist Church.
