Hartley Irving Damboise, 93, of Connor, Maine, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Born on December 23, 1931, in Connor, he was the son of the late Eugene and Eva (Proulx) Damboise. Hartley was one of five children and grew up on the family farm alongside his brother Gilford and sisters Gertrude, Viola, and Hilda.

On April 15, 1950, Hartley married the love of his life, Joyce Reed, in Victoria, New Brunswick, Canada. Together they shared 62 devoted years of marriage until Joyce's passing on October 5, 2012.

Hartley attended Caribou High School but left early following the sudden passing of his father. A hardworking man throughout his life, he was employed at Birdseye/American Kitchen Foods, Potato Service, and Levesque Lumber Company.

Hartley and Joyce were blessed with five children: Steve (Doris Ann) of Goffstown, NH; Eugene (deceased); Darrell (Karen) of Connor, ME; Mark (Kathy) of Connor, ME; and Hartley Jr. of Caribou, ME.

Hartley had many passions. He loved the open road and proudly rode his Honda 1100 Goldwing motorcycle well into his nineties-his last ride at the remarkable age of 91. He was also an avid reader, especially fond of Louis L'Amour novels, and enjoyed gardening, tinkering with machinery, and fixing anything mechanical that came his way.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce, his son Eugene, and his daughter-in-law Diane (wife of Hartley Jr.).

Hartley is survived by his four sons, Steve, Darrell, Mark, and Hartley Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 2:00 PM Friday, October 10, 2025, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, ME, where a service will be conducted at 3:00 PM. The family asks that you please join them for a reception and continued fellowship at the funeral home, immediately following the service. A private committal will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements in care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home.
