Harvey Gene McCutchen, a devoted family man and hardworking individual, was born on October 12, 1940, in the Owl Creek Community. He passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in Lampasas, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of faith and dedication. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Sneed Carnley Funeral Chapel in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at Pidcoke cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7:00 pm, Friday, November 7, 2025 at the funeral home.
Gene began his journey contributing to history when he helped send the first booster to the moon while working at Rocketdyne in 1966. His professional life was marked by a strong commitment to his work in construction, where he spent many years framing houses and hanging drywall. Despite facing a significant challenge when he sustained a back injury that led to his retirement in 1995, Gene's resilience remained evident throughout his life.
Gene's education began in the small community of McGregor, which laid the foundation for his hardworking spirit and strong family values. He was known for his belief in the importance of faith, family, and hard work, which were central themes in his life.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Gene found joy in his memberships at the Moose Lodge and Trinity Worship Center, where he formed lasting friendships and connections with his community.
Gene is survived by his loving daughters, La Jean Harris and her husband, Corey, Carol Camac and her husband, Jim, and Shelly McCutchen; his son, James McCutchen and his wife, Mary; grandchildren Sarah, Anna, Nathan, Cassy, T.J., Josh, Ashley, Robbie, Kayla, Ricky, and Andrew. he also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Jason, McKinley, Elisha, Cole, Ethan, Olivia, Brody, Declan, Lily, Zoey and Charli who were his pride and joys.. They will cherish his memory and the values he instilled in them.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry Neeper McCutchen; his son, Timothy McCutchen; and four sisters and two brothers. His legacy will endure through the lives he touched and the memories shared among his family and friends. Harvey Gene McCutchen will be remembered for a life well-lived, a compassionate heart, and a spirit of determination that inspired those around him.
