Harvey “Hot Rod” Shields Sr., age 73 of Kenton, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at home. Funeral services for Mr. Shields will be conducted on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 3PM in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Lassett speaking. Interment will follow in Bethpage Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was born September 20, 1951, in Marks, MS; the son of the late Alvin & Lena (Potts) Shields. He was a ductwork installer at Flats Heating & Air before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, ‘tinkering’ on things, and loved being outdoors. He attended Bethpage Baptist Church and was a retired volunteer firefighter at the Tyson Store location.
Mr. Shields is survived by his wife, Barbara Shields; four children, Jennifer Davis, Barbara Wade, Harvey Shields Jr., Britney Breeden; siblings, Terry Shields, Joyce Brown, Michelle Shields, Kathy Melton, Ricky Shields; grandchildren, Kristen Wade, Julia “Juju” Davis, Cody Lynn Cruse; great-grandchildren, Kendall Joyce Green, Dakotah Steven Green, Cameron Reese Boxley, Brooklyn Breeden, Joshua Breeden; and his beloved birddog, Rascal. He was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Ann Kuehl, Debbie Fletcher, Ardis Shields, JC Shields, James Robert Shields, Leslie Shields, and Anthony Shields.
The family will receive friends from 1PM-3PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Rutherford chapel. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Harvey Shields Sr.
