Hassell Lowe

MR. HASSELL "HASS" LOWE, age 88, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Bristol, Virginia, with his daughter, Kimberly Kay Lowe Fletcher, and special granddaughter, Chassity Shae Lowe, by his side, holding his hands. Hassell was born on August 8, 1937, in Buchanan County. He was the son of the late Earnest Raymond Lowe and Goldie Pearl Stilwell Lowe Compton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Hattie Marie Ratliff Lowe, who passed away on February 17, 2014; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Lowe Reynolds; two brothers, Pastor David Junior Lowe and Grady Dalton Lowe; and two sisters, Beulah Mae Bailey and Delores Estella Joyce.
Hassell was a precious daddy, loving papaw, and brother. He was a retired coal miner of 30 years and enjoyed fox hunting and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his five children: Kimberly Kay Lowe Fletcher (Rob) of Bristol, VA; Devona Sue Lowe Stiltner of Groseclose, VA; Latrica Marie Lowe Boyd (Doug) of Swords Creek, VA; Jerry Wayne Lowe of Grundy, VA; and Kennith Ray Lowe (Patricia) of Big Rock, VA. He is also survived by five sisters: Lola Stacy, Emma Arnold (Lawrence), Nell Ball, Bonnie Whited, and Judy Stiltner; one brother, Bob Lowe; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Lowe and Bessie Lowe.
He is further survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jonathan Aiden Skeen and the Elite Hospice staff-Laken, Monica, Sara, Charity, Caleb, Denise, and Chaplain Steve-for their care and compassion.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., with song services beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Hassell Lowe will be conducted on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel, with Jimmy Hess officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowe Family Cemetery on Mott Branch.
Active pallbearers will be Joshua Carrier, Justin Lowe, Derek Smith, Bobby Lowe Jr., Aaron Baker, Hunter Scott, and Tony Nathaniel Boyd.
