Hattie Maxine Dean Busbee was born on March 21, 1945, in
Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Max Carl Dean and Hattie B. (Johnson, Davis) Dean. She passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Maxine had three older sisters, Dorothy, Wanda, and Juanita Davis. When she was three years old, her brother, Robert (Bobby) Dean, was adopted at the age of two.
Maxine and her husband, Loren, grew up knowing each other and they dated throughout her high school years. They were united in marriage on June 1, 1963. They made their home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, moving to Edmond in 1968. To this marriage three daughters were born, Charissa, Jan, and Sarah. In 1980 at the age of fifteen, Jan was tragically taken from them in a head on collision. Maxine and Loren were later blessed with three granddaughters and then four great-grandsons.
Throughout Maxine's life, she enjoyed homemaking, cooking, sewing, and gardening. She worked at times as a secretary, and later taught in the Path of Life School in Guthrie, eventually becoming principal for some years before starting the Crutcho Christian Academy in Oklahoma City.
Maxine began her ministry in the Church of God in 1987, and was ordained in 1995. She and Loren pastored the Crutcho Church of God in Oklahoma City together until his death in 2020. She continued her ministry after his death. During her months of being bedridden, both in 2022 with a broken hip, and during her last affliction in 2025, through Zoom and recorded messages she was able to continue sharing the gospel message she had carried for 38 years.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; her daughter, Jan; her son-in-law, Barry Herron; her parents and three sisters.
She is survived by her two daughters, Charissa Bennings and husband, Mark, of Prattsville, Arkansas; Sarah Herron of Edmond; three granddaughters, Ashley Pinson of Edmond, Shannon Culp and husband, Timothy, of Prattsville, Arkansas; Amanda Elston and husband, DaRyan, of Loranger, Louisiana; four great-grandsons, Levi and Rowan Pinson, Luke Elston, and Cannon Culp; and one brother, Bobby Dean, and wife, Geraldine, of Guthrie.
