Hattie Blanche Davis, 90, was born on June 10, 1934, in Lunenburg County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Robert Davis and Annie Mae Watts Davis. She departed this life on Monday, February 10, 2025, at her residence.
At an early age, Hattie joined Calvary Baptist Church in Victoria, Virginia. She graduated from Lunenburg High School in Victoria, Virginia. Hattie would then move to Washington, DC, where she stayed for a short period of time. Hattie then moved to Newark, New Jersey.
While living in New Jersey, she worked several jobs before landing a job at University Hospital (UMDNJ). She worked as a nurse's aide and in housekeeping. Hattie worked at the hospital for many years until she retired due to health reasons. After retirement, she moved back to Virginia. Hattie loved her family, she loved taking care of her grandchildren, gardening, and canning. She loved going to church and singing in the choir. She loved cooking and sitting around reminiscing about the old days.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her two sons, Larry D. Davis of Chase City, VA, and Deron A. Davis of Newark, NJ; one daughter, Donna D. Hector (Timothy Hector) of Clarksville, VA; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers,Ike, Frank, and William Davis, all of Chase City, VA; one sister, Mae Francis Boyd of Chase City, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Y. Davis; son, Darius V. Davis; six brothers, Harold, Joe Lewis, Bobby, Edward, Curtis, and Wash Davis; and two sisters, Betty Smith and Pearl Davis
Funeral Service for Ms. Hattie Blanche Davis will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 12 Noon at Calvary Baptist Church, 2246 Rehoboth Road, Victoria, VA. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will begin on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
