Hattie deVlaming of Kaufman passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the age of 95. Hattie was born to John and Francis Miklis on May 5, 1929 in Kaufman, the youngest of 11 children.
Hattie married Rex deVlaming at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kaufman on June 7, 1947. They were married 58 years until his death in 2005. Hattie worked beside her husband in several businesses in Kaufman until their retirement.
Hattie was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church her entire life. She was a lifetime member of Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas - KJZT, American Legion and VFW Post in Kaufman and helped establish the Ladies Auxiliary. Hattie also served as a volunteer at the VA Hospital for many years. She loved to travel, dance, cook and spend time with family and friends.
Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, Rex deVlaming, parents John and Frances Miklis, five brothers and five sisters. She was the last surviving member of the Miklis siblings.
Hattie leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come. She is survived by her loving children, Debra Hitt and husband Joel of Kaufman, Rita Walker and husband Ricky of Kaufman, Jo Ann Talbot and husband Bobby Jack of Scurry; grandchildren Brady Bardin, Shane Bardin, Johnny Hitt, Gerald Hitt, Raye Etta Shaw, Brad Walker, Brandi Walker, Kelly Talbot and Shelly Smith; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren and numerous family and friends who will miss her dearly.
