Hayden Charles Gage Alter, born in Denver, Colorado, on September 23, 1995, was tragically robbed of his life at 29 years old, in the early morning hours of May 19, 2025. He is survived, and dearly remembered by his beautiful Daughter, Aunna Alter; Mother and Father, Deanna J. Romero and Kevin C. Alter; his paternal Grandmother, Helen Ohman; his sisters, Ivy Alter and Zoe Castillo; Brother and Nephew, Gregory Baker, and Gregory I. Baker, as well as beloved family, friends, and neighbors whose lives he touched deeply. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Hazel Romero, special aunt and uncle, Nina and Nino (JR and Alice Lujan), and his paternal grandfather’s, Jerry Jimenez and John Alter.
Hayden had a love for conversation, music, comics, video games, fishing, sports, and a good time for all. He took pride in helping others, even when he was without. When family or friends found uncertainty, Hayden offered assurance and optimism. There was no situation or problem that Hayden would find hopeless, truly seeing the silver lining in every dark cloud. He was funny, well-spoken, and cherished the good in everyone. He was outspoken and intelligent, finding words for each thought and questions for each answer. Hayden, burdened by the struggles faced by a generation, was a good son who sought to heal those burdens inherited by his Mother and Father. A good brother who offered optimism and sheer will in support of his brothers and sisters in their struggles, despite his own. Hayden Alter had a bright future to build for his daughter and himself. Hayden was a carpenter, shade-tree mechanic, and industrious problem solver. Briefly attending New Mexico Highlands University, he planned to pursue higher education again after moving to Colorado Springs in the summer of 2025.
Hayden’s memory is proudly carried by those who love him. Services for Hayden Alter in New Mexico will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 3:00 pm in Albuquerque, NM at Daniel’s Family Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle BLVD NE. He will be buried in Colorado at a later date.
