Hazel I. Beling

On December 18, 2024, Hazel I. Beling (90) of Ocean Grove, NJ entered into eternal life.
Born in Long Branch, NJ to Lester and A. Edna Dorrer, Hazel was raised in Wall Township, NJ surrounded by sisters Alice and Ruth and brother Ross. In 1955, Hazel graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Ann May School of Nursing, an affiliate of Fitkin Hospital (today known as HMH Jersey Shore University Medical Center) in Neptune, NJ. Hazel served as first Head Nurse of Pediatrics for many years at Point Pleasant Hospital.
She met her husband Donald in Ocean Grove, they wed and together had two children, Nancy and Gary. Her children were the source of great pride and love. Hazel's life will be remembered for her generosity and dedicated service to the community. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's UMC, Ocean Grove, where she faithfully attended worship services and routinely shopped for their Food Pantry Outreach. In the 1980s, Hazel enthusiastically served as a teacher's assistant for the 2-year-old class at St. Paul's Tender Care Nursery daycare program.
In the summer, she worshipped in the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association Great Auditorium and will be remembered for baking over 1,000 homemade cookies for many years in support of the Ladies Auxiliary summer bazaar fundraiser. She was active in the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star, Ocean Chapter. Hazel was an avid coupon clipper and on occasion was so successful that the grocery stores would pay her to take the items she purchased because the rebates were greater than the costs. She never missed a grandchild's dance recital, performance, or violin concert of which there were countless. For decades, her corner house was the bus stop, and generations of school kids knew they would be safe and dry waiting on her porch steps.
Hazel was predeceased by her sisters and husband Donald Beling and is survived by her brother Ross Dorrer (Marilyn), brother-in-law Elmer Myers, Jr., daughter Nancy Badger (Michael), son Gary Beling (Natasha), seven grandchildren, including Mary Abuhouran (Jeris), Daniel, Stephen, Grace and Ruth Badger, Pearse and Gigi Beling, and great-granddaughter Faith, and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Sunday, Dec 22, 1-3 pm in St Paul's Church, Ocean Grove with Funeral services beginning at 3 pm. Burial at Hamilton Cemetery in Neptune at 11 am on Monday, Dec 23.
