Hazel Vondell Davis transitioned on February 16, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born on October 29, 1954, in Whaleyville, Maryland.
Hazel was preceded in death by her father Daniel Jacobs Sr., niece Jonaca Henry, two nephews, Neil Henry, Earlest Mumford, and one sister-in-law, Beatrice Jacobs.
For 34 years Hazel was the companion to Augusto Cannon. Hazel was employed at Mountaire Farms for over 20 years; and then at Tyson's for five years. Hazel loved to spend her time cooking, cleaning, dancing, crabbing and enjoying crafts. She was often called the soda and candy lady. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and family.
Hazel became ill 18 years ago and was given only 30 days to live; but God declared it wasn't her time to go.
Hazel leaves behind to carry on her legacy her mother, Hazel Jacobs; two beautiful daughters, April Handy, Tracy Purnell (Ronald Purnell); five grandchildren, Ratisha Handy (fiancé James Russell), Ronshell Purnell, KJ Rogers (fiancé Jasmine Matthews), Kiera Rogers, Ty'Junea Griffen; six great grandchildren, Shanya Mumford, My'asia Handy, Anazia Davis, Muhriya Sturgis, Avani Elliott, Amyla Griffen; two sisters, Doris Jacobs, Bertha Mumford (Elwood), two brothers, Daniel Jacobs Jr., Glen Jacobs; one sister-in-law Jeanlene Jacobs, two sons she called her own Marty Cannon and Mike Elliott; a special aunt Wanita Johnson (Stanley Johnson) and uncle Leon Tingle (Joyce Tingle); two wonderful friends, Sharon Wise and Agnes Mumford; and a nephew she would call "Inch Worm" Glen Jacobs Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
