Hazel Delores Hughes Gresham passed away on September 6, 2025, at the age of 73, in Midland, Texas. Born on August 28, 1952, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Delores led a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
Delores was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her sons, Jared Lindsey and Travis Keith Lindsey, both of Andrews, Texas. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren Kayleigh Harvey, Alivia Harvey, Brianna Joel Lindsey, Shalee Diane Lindsey, Maddie Mae Lindsey, Emerald Kwynne Lindsey, Michael Curtis Kade Lindsey, and Kenan Echa Lindsey, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren Trystyn, Travis, Amar'e James, Jolene Michelle, and Hazel. Delores's memory will also be honored by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Reunited in eternity with her beloved parents, William Hughes and Hazel Faye Smith Hughes, Delores is also predeceased by her husband of fifteen years, James William Lindsey, and her siblings, Anna Phillips, Lela Faye Hughes, and William Roger Hughes. Their bonds, unbroken by time, continue beyond this earthly realm.
Delores was a proud alumna of Southeastern Christian University, where she earned her associate's degree in child development. For twenty-six years, Delores served as a bus driver for Andrews Independent School District, a role she embraced with dedication and joy before her retirement. Her commitment to the children and families she served was evident in her every action and the warm smiles that greeted her daily.
A devout Christian, Delores's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a beloved member of Kingdom Gates church, where she found strength and fellowship. Her musical talents were a gift to all who heard her play the piano and sing with heartfelt passion during services and gatherings.
Delores's was happiest outdoors, tending to her garden or enjoying the company of her dogs. However, her greatest pleasure was found in the time spent with her family. Whether it was a holiday celebration, a casual visit, or a moment shared in quiet understanding, Delores cherished every opportunity to be with her loved ones.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from six until eight o'clock in the evening at McNett Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at two o'clock in the afternoon at McNett Funeral Home.
