Norfolk - Nelner Faye (Poland) Gresham, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 77. Born on August 23, 1948, in Wilson, North Carolina, Faye was a gentle soul whose life was defined by love, dedication, and quiet strength.

Faye graduated from Granby High School in 1966, and shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, James H. Gresham, on July 14, 1967. Together, they built a beautiful life, cherishing their annual trips to the Smoky Mountains, which were a testament to their enduring love and companionship.

Faye dedicated many years to her work as a medical transcriptionist at TPI and the Pines Residential Treatment Center before retiring. Her career was marked by diligence and a commitment to excellence, reflecting her strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Beyond her professional life, Faye found immense joy in simple pleasures. She had a deep love for reading and listening to music, activities that brought her comfort and inspiration throughout her life. Whether curled up with a good book or enjoying her favorite songs, these moments were cherished by Faye and enriched her soul.

Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James H. Gresham; her parents, Fred A. Poland and Frances (Collins) Denton; her stepfather, Charlie Denton; her brothers, Billy Collins and Spencer Denton; and her grandson, Jason Verona. Her memory will continue to live on through her surviving family: her three devoted daughters, Pamela (Thomas) of Tennessee, Karen of Virginia, and Charleen (Terry) of Florida; her cherished grandchildren, Brett, Dylan, Erica, Brittany, Adam, Caleb, and Jenna; and her loving great-grandchildren, Aaron, Amber, and James. She is also survived by her brother, Terry Denton, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart, and a special family friend Charlie Uhland.

Faye will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love for family, and the quiet strength she carried through life. Her memory will be forever treasured by all who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful mother to her "crazy kids" and a beacon of love and support to her entire family.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is assisting her family. Please share memories and express condolences at CandFServices.com.

In our hearts, Faye remains-a testament to the power of love, family, and the simple joys that make life meaningful.
