Hazel Louvinia Phillips Hansard, 89, a life-long resident of Forsyth County, went home to be with her Lord February 2, 2025, surrounded by her family at home. Hazel was born June 27, 1935 to the late Rev. Clifford and Estie Phillips. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. As a teenager, Hazel began playing the piano in church, going with her father to Sunday morning church services and revivals. She knew at an early age her calling was to serve as a church pianist, and for over seventy years, she was faithful to that calling. Hazel also loved basketball and was starting guard on her high school championship team. In her senior year, she married Louie E. Hansard. Together, they enjoyed being members of the Forsyth County Singing Class and joining with friends in cottage singings. She loved Gospel music, going to the National Quartet Convention and the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion each year. Hazel was a wonderful cook, known for her peanut cake. She also loved gardening, canning, her flowers, birds and her cats. Above all, she loved her family. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Everett and Carol (Inez) Phillips, sisters, Marie (Carroll) Dooley and Margie Byers. She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Louie E. Hansard, daughter and son-in-law, Alecia and Travis Bridgeman, grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Lee and Andrea Bridgeman and sister, Mattie Ruth (Floyd Jr.) Coker. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 2:00pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Bridgeman, Rev. Jamie Raper and Rev. Carlton Coker officiating. The interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation at Ingram Funeral Home Tuesday, February 4th, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm, and on Wednesday, February 5th at 11:00am until the time of service.
