Mrs. Hazel Elizabeth McCall Taylor, 87, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025. Mrs. Taylor was born April 29, 1938, in Macon Co. NC to the late Carl J. McCall and Josephine Brown McCall. She was married to the late William Eugene Taylor who preceded her in 1997.

She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. She also earned her master's degree from Western Carolina University.

Hazel taught the 5th Grade at East Franklin School for many years until she retired in 1999. She was a member of the National Education Association and the North Carolina Association of Educators.

Hazel was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Hazel traveled all over the United States and saw many places but always told her students that Franklin, NC was the best and most beautiful place in the world.

Survivors include her brother, John Curtis "Curt" McCall; a sister, Jessie McCall Revis; a special niece in-law, Caroline LeBaron; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by a son, Darrin Taylor; sister, Mavis McCall Eppard; brother, Richard McCall; nephew, Tony McCall; niece, Sandra Rolla; and three in-laws, Nancy McCall, Bob Revis, and Roy Eppard.

A private service will be held at the Jennings Cemetery in Franklin, NC.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people of the Eckerd Living Center in Highlands, NC for their wonderful care of Mrs. Hazel during her time at the living center.
