Hazel Maye Zullinger, age 81, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Mercy House of Chambersburg with her family by her side. Born July 30, 1943 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late George William Christman, Sr. and Mildred Susie (Helman) Christman.
A 1961 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School, she dedicated her life to making a home and taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and spending time at the family farm where she raised sheep. In her last few years she bravely faced pancreatic cancer while continuing to devote time to those closest to her.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 62 years, Nelson Harvey Zullinger, whom she married on September 22, 1962; three children, Rick Zullinger (Tawnya Barkdoll) of St. Thomas, PA, Wendy Maalouf (Khalil) of Chantilly, VA, and Ryan Zullinger (Jennifer) of St. Thomas, PA; six grandchildren, John Maalouf (Cristian Trejo) of Austin, TX, Nicole Mejia (Jovan) of Columbus, OH, Cassidy Zullinger of St. Thomas, PA, Reagan Zullinger of St. Thomas, PA, Samuel Zullinger of St. Thomas, PA, and Isabel Maalouf of Chantilly, VA. Aside from her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by six siblings, Florence Purnell, George Christman, Jr., Charles Christman, Shirley Bitner, Richard Christman, and Nelson Christman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Harold Yeager will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday evening and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
