Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lighthouse Family Mortuary - Greeley on Oct. 1, 2025.
Heather Louise Lawrence, of
Greeley, Colorado, passed away on August 5, 2025, surrounded by family and friends after a long and difficult battle with ALS. Born on November 26, 1973, in Palos Verdes Estates, California, to Robert Lawrence and Marczella Nagelvoort, Heather spent her life gathering people into her orbit through her warmth, wit, and boundless capacity for love.
Heather's life was defined by connection. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, artist, host, and friend. Heather was a true "community builder" whose generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was a source of inspiration and unwavering support for her family and friends, nurturing a large, unconventional circle with her openness, love, and acceptance.
Through her outgoing nature and magnetic personality, Heather's kindness and authenticity touched people from all walks of life - friends from childhood, fellow artists, colleagues, neighbors, and even those who met her only briefly but never forgot her. She changed lives simply by being herself: vibrant, creative, passionate, and fiercely loyal.
A vibrant presence both on stage and in life, Heather balanced family life, a passion for theater, gardening, and crafting. Additionally, she brought this passion to a successful career as an event planner and Disney Travel Agent with such panache that she made it almost look easy. She filled her home and backyard with laughter, conversation, and the aroma of her legendary cakes and culinary creations. Whether hosting large-scale celebrations like her annual Friendsgiving or more intimate gatherings like her long-standing Wednesday Night Dinners, Heather had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Heather is survived by her husband, Brian Hughes; daughters Persephone Lawrence, Giselle Lawrence, Angelica Suiter, and Lily Lawrence; sisters Anne Lawrence, Karie Lafferty, and Jennifer Lafferty; father Robert Lawrence, stepmother Barbara Real, and stepfather Charles Lafferty. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marczella Nagelvoort.
A Celebration of Remembrance and Open House will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Lawrence-Hughes residence, 2623 14th Avenue Court,
Greeley, CO. Friends and family are invited to share stories, laughter, and love in honor of a life that made the world brighter.
