Heather Elizabeth Mathis

Heather Elizabeth Mathis, 32, passed away surrounded by family and friends at Mission Hospital on October 25, 2025.

Heather is survived by her mother and father, Trudi and Danny Mathis; her brother, Josh Mathis; her paternal grandparents, Theodore Mathis of Sylva, NC and Gladys Wood of Barnwell, SC; maternal grandfather, Howard Bateman of Franklin; her best friend, Brittany Buttery; many aunts, uncles and cousins and her beloved dogs Elliott (Bert) and Cloud.

Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Pheobe Bateman of Franklin, and her beloved dogs, Tequila and Bo.

Heather was born April 29, 1993, in Sylva, NC. She attended Smoky Mountain High School, graduating in 2011. After graduation, she attended Southwestern Community College. She enjoyed going to Comic Cons, the movies, camping with her family and friends, and going to the beach.

She loved helping people anyway possible; she was the person you could count on to be there in a second and stay until the end. Her last gift to others was being an organ donor.

A visitation will be held at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11:00am-1:00pm
