Heiderose Pope Obituary

Published by Baker-Post Funeral Home, Lee Chapel on Dec. 6, 2012.
Heiderose M. Pope Heiderose Marilyn Yates Pope, 59, of Woodbridge was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. She ascended peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her mother and father, Ernestine and Ted Smith of Spotsylvania; her sisters, Georgiann Thompson and husband Fred, Katherine Quann and husband David and Holly Hydorn and husband Kevin; her brothers, Randolph Yates and wife Linda, Phillip Smith and wife Cindy, and Ronald Smith and wife Julie; as well as 12 loving nieces and nephews. Heiderose especially enjoyed spending time with her nephew, Fred Thompson, III, with whom she held a special bond.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Franklin Yates in 1966. Heiderose and her family are grateful to Dr. Poornima Pandellapalli, Donna McAllister and the nurses at Kaiser for their outstanding care and friendship spanning two years.

Ms. Pope enjoyed traveling with her good friends. As an employee of TWA and American Airlines, she traveled extensively to many exotic places such as Africa, Katmandu, Jerusalem and Australia. She enjoyed reading and sharing her love of books with others less fortunate. Heiderose will especially be remembered for her laughter and her thoughtfulness toward others.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert A. Koehler officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial site has been created through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 or on line at www.pancan.org. Heiderose's wishes are that through her memory a cure could be found for this disease so others can be spared.

I met Heide when we joined two great airlines, TWA and American. We were very fortunate to have her as part of the team. She always had a pleasant thing to say or something special to share. May God continue to keep you in his care and bless you in days ahead.

My deepest sympathy to you at this time of sorrow. It was truly a pleasure to have known and worked with Heidi. What a kind and gentle sole. She is in God's care now and what better care could we ever ask for her? Now I pray for your comfort in the days ahead. God bless you and keep you in His tender care.

I was fortunate enough to work with Heidi at Washington Dulles. Heidi was alway willing to go the extra mile in helping others. She was kind, flexible and always considerate of those around. She was not only a great co-worker she was my friend and I will greatly miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
