Helen E. Bloomer, 99, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025.
She was born to Keith Wilson and Roxie Black, on February 1, 1926.
Helen married her husband of 75 years, Joseph Bloomer, on December 26, 1947. Both were
originally from the Springfield area, but also lived in Kansas City, Wichita, and Houston. And,
for several years, on a small farm near Aldrich, Missouri before finally moving back to
Springfield in 2004. Helen worked as a secretary at Horace Mann Junior High School in
Wichita, and later at Wunderlich Middle School in Houston. She would retire in 1991.
Helen was an avid cook, and could prepare anything. Her fudge was particularly sought after.
She also enjoyed reading, cross stitching, and taking care of cats and dogs. She always knew
an interesting place to take her grandchildren, such as an art museum, an out-of-the way
restaurant, or a curio shop that sold unique knickknacks.
Helen was preceded in death by husband Joseph, their children Eric Bloomer and Monica
Marble, and brother Gerald Wilson.
She is survived by siblings Barbara Wilson and Reginald Wilson, grandchildren Matthew
Marble and Melissa (Stewart) Mitchell, and great granddaughter Maddison Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Springfield Humane Society in Helen's honor.
