HALFMOON Helen M. Brown, 92, formerly of Halfmoon passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday June 23, 2025 at her daughter's home in Florida. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Obin and Anna Narzinski Galvin. She was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. Helen had lived in Florida with her daughter Ruth and family for the past 4 years where they provided dedicated and devoted care to her.
Helen had worked as a waitress at the former Mickie Joe's Restaurant in Waterford for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Crescent and had volunteered at the church in several capacities. She was instrumental in the PTA at the former Briggs School on Hudson River Road. Helen enjoyed bird watching but especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
She was the devoted wife of the late James W. Brown who died in 2000. She is the loving mother of Mary Lou Doty (Bob) of Watervliet, Thomas Brown (Bonnie) of Clifton Park, Ruth Sturtevant (Keith) of Boynton Beach, FL, Scott Brown of Ballston Lake and the late James Michael Brown. She is the sister of Sheila Cassella (Lorenzo) of Waterford and the late Shirley Furman. She is the proud grandmother of Michael Scott Brown, Shawn Yearsley, Ashley Guiffre, Courtney Sholtes, Alicia Montague, Nicholas Sturtevant, Hannah and Jordan Brown. Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday June 28, 2025 at noon at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 am – noon prior to the funeral service.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
