Helen Bell Carty

Helen Bell Snider Carty, age 92, departed from this life on Sunday, August 3, 2025 in a local Mobile nursing facility. She was born on February 17, 1933, in Wallace, Alabama to parents Gilly Bell and Barbie Smith Bell. She was the oldest of 4 daughters including Joyce Fountain Benson (deceased), Gilleree Bell Rickard (deceased), and Peggy Bell Hogue (Tim). She was a devoted wife to Chester Smith (deceased), Leslie Snider (deceased), and Joseph Carty (deceased). Helen was always a loving mother to 4 children, Benny Snider (deceased), daughter-in-law Bobby, Pat Snider Carter (Cecil), Gil Snider (deceased), and Beth Snider-Johnston (Brian). In addition to her children, Helen had 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Helen was a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church serving the Mobile congregation in the role of Elder for a number of years. She retired from Alfa Insurance after spending many years as a supervising secretary and district secretary to spend retirement time with family and friends. Helen loved reading and gardening, and she had a love for people that was felt by everyone. Visitation will be at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 10:00-11:00am followed by a graveside service at Catawba Spring Cemetery. The family invites family and friends to attend a celebration of life memorial on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00am at Community of Christ Church, 672 Azalea Rd. Mobile, Alabama.
