Obituary
On October 24, 2023 Helen Marie Davis passed away in her sleep at West View Healthy Living. Her husband of 74 years was present at her passing.
Helen Marie (Ricketts) Davis was born December 7, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, IN. She lived in Mt. Vernon her entire life until she graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1949.
On April 29, 1949 she married Lester L. Davis. In 1950 they had a son Lester L. Davis, Jr. and in 1953 had a second son Donald E. Davis. Prof. Donald E. Davis died in 2002 in San Antonio, TX. She was a very good mother to her two sons Les and Don. The Davis family moved to Wooster, OH in 1961. Helen became a member of the First Baptist Church (formally Bethany Baptist Church) in 1961. In the 1960's and 1970's Helen worked at Wooster High School in the principal's office. In the early 1990's Helen attended college at Ashland and later she graduated from Ashland University. Helen loved to learn new things and she loved to travel and most of all she loved life.
Along with her son, Helen was preceded in death by her siblings Wesley E. Ricketts, Ralph R. Ricketts and Edna May Jacobs.
Friends will be received in Wooster, OH on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
Funeral service will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Denning Funeral Home, 1330 East 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN. Burial will be in Bellefountaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IN.
Friends will be received in Mt. Vernon, IN on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Denning Funeral Home.
