In loving memory of Helen Carolyn Davison Lee, age 93, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Meadow Lakes in East Windsor, NJ, surrounded by her loved ones. Throughout her life she was known to most by her middle name, Carolyn.
Carolyn was born in Trenton, NJ on July 8, 1930 to Le Roy and Helen (Stevens) Davison. Raised in Cranbury, NJ, she was an active member of the Hightstown High School graduating class of 1947. Following her passion for nursing, Carolyn attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, graduating in 1951. She then worked in her beloved profession at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago and later in university, private school, and summer camp settings in the northeast, including at the Princeton University infirmary and Cherry Lawn School in Darien, CT.
Carolyn and John Bartholomew Lee wedded in 1959 in Cranbury. They lived in various locations around central New Jersey until settling in Perrineville in 1972, where they resided until John's passing in 2015, 56 years after they married.
Carolyn was active in her community throughout her life, contributing her time and talents to the Millstone Community Theatre and serving as a volunteer Girl Scout leader. Carolyn's steadfast faith was evident through her involvement at the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, NJ, where she joyfully sang in the choir, shared her wisdom as a Sunday school teacher, and served as a Deacon.
Beyond her community involvement, Carolyn found immense joy in simple pleasures, including reading, tending to her garden, family history, and nurturing her faith. However, her greatest source of happiness was the company of her family.
Among those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Daniel (Julia), Michael, and Timothy (Wes); three daughters, Emma (Mike), Elizabeth (Bert), and Gertrude; 13 adored grandchildren, Jackie (Martin), Katherine (Zane), Conrad (Ulli), Maggie (Nick), Alex, Marcus, Joseph, Steven, Carter, Skyler, Melodypearl, Krishna, and Lakshmi; two great-grandchildren, Emilia and Sam; and sister, Catherine.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; her parents, Le Roy and Helen Davison; brother, Leroy Davison, Jr.; and her sisters, Miriam Maarberg and Doris Backes.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
All services for Carolyn will be private.
