Wayne was born December 12, 1945, in Trenton, NJ and was raised in Hightstown, where he graduated from Hightstown High School. Wayne attended West Virgina University. After college, he went on to work as an English teacher in the Bridgeton School District briefly before starting at Shawnee High School, in 1970 when the new school opened. Wayne taught at Shawnee until his retirement in 2004. During his teaching career, Wayne was also the head tennis coach, retiring with over 500 wins, several awards, and being inducted into the New Jersey Athletic Hall of Fame. During his coaching career he was featured twice nationally in USA today for coaching. In addition to teaching Wayne also worked weekend and summers as a gas attendant on New Jersey Turnpike to help enrich the lives of his family. After retirement, Wayne loved to travel with his beloved wife Barbara. The two saw the world together and loved going on cruises. Wayne will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, his sons Chris of Philadelphia, PA, Pat (Fiona) of Queens, NY, Phillip of Jersey City, NJ, and his grandchildren Darius and Stefan.
A viewing for Wayne will be held on Friday July 11, 2025, from 5-7pm and Saturday July 12, 2025, from 9:30-11am at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060.

I was shocked to find out that Wayne passed away. Our daughter had
him for English and Mr Nau was our son´s tennis coach. We still have his classic 68 Chevy Impala convertible which he sold me for a cheap price that I could pay whenever I was able.
We stumbled on to the news 6 hours after the Saturday viewing. So sad. I had planned on stopping in to see him and catch up on old times . As a fellow tennis coach I interacted with him for many years. Wayne was one of the few to register over 200 wins as a coach for Shawnee High School.

Condolences to the Nau Family. Wayne and I taught together in the English Department at Shawnee High School until our retirement in 2004. Wayne was well-liked by both his students and his colleagues.
