Helen Marie (McDonald) Diseron, 84, of Rushville, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 21, 1939, in Macomb, the daughter of the late James Fredrick & Della Faye (Root) McDonald. Helen married Wayne L. Diseron on January 19, 1957, at the Free Methodist Church of Rushville and he survives.
She was employed at Lacey Nursing Home before she began her career at Snyders Vaughn Haven Nursing Home; a career that lasted over 40 years for Helen. After she retired from the nursing home, she enjoyed a position with Rushville-Industry Schools as a school bus aide. Helen and Wayne were very involved with the Phoenix Opera House for nearly 50 years. She and Wayne were active board members, and she served on the board up until the time of her passing. Helen liked bowling, cross stitching, bingo and enjoyed visiting casinos in Las Vegas with her sister, Judy. She loved to spend time with her family, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 67 years, Wayne, Helen is survived by her daughter; Diane Bryant of Rushville, Jeffrey Diseron of Macomb, four grandchildren,; Stephanie (Bill) Thompson, Kimmie (Kendall) Taylor, Randy (Megan) Ward, & Jamie (Patrick) Draughan, ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two sisters; Marilyn Emmons of Lewiston & Judy Coulter of Las Vegas, Nevada and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother; Ronnie McDonald, a sister; Martha Cooper, a son in-law; Les Bryant and by a daughter in-law; Dena Diseron.
Graveside services honoring Helen’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Rushville City Cemetery. Those planning on attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery just prior to 11:00 am on Friday. The Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville has been entrusted with the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions in memory of Helen are suggested to the Phoenix Opera House or to Cass-Schuyler Hospice.
