Helen Ann George, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, at 4:13 PM in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Helen was born on October 1, 1935, in Catawba, North Carolina to Joseph Butler Lowrance and Ira Pearl Wilson Lowrance. She married Wallace Henry George on February 16, 1957, and together they shared 47 wonderful years.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was best known for her kindness, generosity, strong work ethic, unlimited faith, and her love for family and friends. Helen touched the lives of everyone who knew her as she never met a stranger. She rushed home for the mail delivery to ensure that the mail men and women received a handful of candy while on their route as well as left Cokes outside for workers to take a break while passing by the famous 2962. She enjoyed taking care of her great ferns, picking the perfect blackberries, cooking up her fried okra, gathering the perfect peaches and tomatoes, crafting projects or crocheting blankets, attending sporting events as well as being a human alarm clock for anyone in need (or not).
Helen is survived by her two daughters: Toni (Brian) Rahilly and Tara (Raymond) Genty; Five grandchildren: Jaime (Nick) Wood, Morgan Rahilly, Franchesca Genty, Jordan Rahilly, and Santiago Genty; and lastly, two great-grandchildren: Riley Wood and Camryn Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace George; her parents, Joseph Butler and Ira Pearl Lowrance; and her eight siblings: Ollie Belle, Joseph Butler Jr., Samuel Wilson, Robert Wayne, Mary Alice, James Petrie, Ira Ray, and her twin sister, Ellen Jane.
A funeral will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Bill Head Funeral Home Lilburn/Tucker Chapel in Tucker, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and medical staff who have made Helen's last years the best they could be with all of their compassionate care. They would also like to extend their gratitude to all of the friends who assisted in checking in on Helen, coming by to "just sit down," as well to all in Georgia who were family when they could not be there.
"Helen/Mom/Grandma/Mamaw will be deeply missed but will be forever remembered in our hearts and yours."
