Helen E. Gooden, 92, of Akron, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. She was born on June 19, 1933 to the late David and Kate {Birrell} Keddie.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband Thomas L. Gooden, siblings May, Colin, Jean and Rina, grandchildren Christopher Sears and Joshua Sears.
Helen is survived by her loving children Terrie Gooden, Connie Gooden, Tammy Day and Thomas Gooden; grandchildren Brandi, Angela, Jeff and Jessie; 12 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Helen's family would like to thank the Catholic Charities Summit Day Services staff for their kindness and loving care while she attended.
Per Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a committal service with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10:45 a.m., at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville, OH 44273, where Helen and Thomas will be laid to rest together. For those who wish to attend, please arrive at the information building at the front of the cemetery 20 minutes prior to the service time.
