Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Carter Greer, 90, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA, with Rev. John O’Leary officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the funeral home.
Helen was born on January 11, 1935, in Girard, LA, and passed away on August 25, 2025, at her residence following a brief illness.
Helen graduated from Rayville High School in 1952 as valedictorian of her graduating class. She received a scholarship to Northeast Junior College, now ULM, where she studied Business Management. After college, she began her long career of 53 years as Office Manager and Administrative Legal Assistant to Mr. William R.”Billy” Boles, Sr. at Boles, Boles and Ryan (now Boles Law Firm) where Helen assisted Mr. Boles, who co-founded First Fidelity Mortgage Company (now Chase) and American Bank and Trust (now Regions Bank), with administrative functions and with management of the law firm.
Helen was a member of First Methodist Monroe. She was a former member of the Quota Club of Monroe.
Stephanie would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ashley Robinson and Lakeisha Colvin from Charlie’s Angels Sitter Service of Monroe. They were truly “angels” and I am so appreciative of the daily love and compassion shown to my mother during her illness. I would also like to thank Dr. Greg Green of St. Francis Primary Care, as well as Dr. John Ledbetter, Dr. Hardy Gordon, and Dr. Vincent Forte of Louisiana Pain Care. Stephanie would also like to thank Dr. Daniel Trejo and the nurses and staff at Heart of Hospice. My mom received excellent care and I am forever grateful.
Helen was the oldest of eight children and was preceded in death by her parents, James and Olie Upshaw Carter; siblings, Gladys Carter Valudos, Alice Carter Rainwater, Carter Rainwater, Ruby Carter Dayberry, James (Son) Carter, and Agnes Virginia Carter Shelton; and son-in-law, Johnny Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Johnson; stepson, Ed Greer (Carol); stepdaughter, Sue Greer Jensen and her son Tom Davis; and two siblings, Mary Carter and Doris Haynes.
Pallbearers will be Wilson Carter, Jason Carter, Kenny Dayberry, Scott Till, John Michael Till, and Bill Boles.
Memorials made be made to First Methodist Church in Monroe.
