Helen (Dwyer) Lodge Obituary Helen (Dwyer) Lodge, age 95 of Shaler Township on September 22, 2025. Born on April 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Helen (Butler) Dwyer.
Helen was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal sister and friend. She had a unique ability to excel at everything she attempted, and provided a special touch to her many creative endeavors. A true believer in the importance of the family, she was a selfless caregiver who was equal parts compassionate and firm. Helen was incredibly generous with her time and skills and always made family meals a priority. She loved the holidays and was able to make each one special for her children and later for her grandchildren with her trademark beautifully set tables. Helen had an eye for decor and each room of her home was a meticulous representation of her flair for interior design. Outside of the home, she would frequently field compliments for her sense of fashion and style. Helen put value in service, working as a volunteer at the school library. She had a keen interest in politics and current events and she stayed informed by reading the newspaper every day and listening to her favorite radio hosts. She modeled activism for her children by becoming involved in causes she felt passionate about.
Helen's grandchildren enjoyed countless hours with her during babysitting, sleepovers, and shared vacations. They fondly recall the quality time they spent with her decorating cookies, playing games, and sewing with "Grammy". A natural teacher in all areas of life, she has gifted them all with skills in baking, sewing, and more. She often sewed outfits for her grandchildren's beloved toys, and made their childhood memorable through her commitment to tradition and fun.
Helen was an incredibly talented seamstress; she made countless wedding, prom, and everyday dresses, as well as Halloween costumes unmatched in originality and detail. She was able to envision intricate designs and curate fabrics to satisfy her vision.
Helen had a deep faith and was a devout catholic. She demonstrated this faith by attending daily mass, teaching her family how to pray and by attending all of their holy sacraments. She always encouraged her family to turn to God in the face of both joy and struggle.
Helen is survived by her daughters Barbara Musante, Susanne Sieminski (John), Tricia Katyal (Sanj) and son-in-law Chuck Farina; grandchildren Elizabeth (Nick), Evan, and Madeline Farina, Maria (Mike), Veronica, Isabella, Julia, and Alexandra (Bailey) Musante, Paul, Matthew, Mary, and Emma Sieminski, Christopher, Clare, Helen, and Colin Katyal and great grandson Anthony, sister Kathleen Connell (Patrick), brother Owen Dwyer (Marybeth) and Sarah Lodge (Joseph) and many nieces and nephews.
