Helen Leona Malzahn, 99, of Searcy, AR, formerly of Sheboygan, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She was born February 25, 1926, in the Town of Sheboygan Falls to the late Albert J. and Mary V. (Fischer) Amoe. In 1932 at the age of 6 Helen moved to Sheboygan. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Dr. George H. Scheer. She graduated from Sheboygan Central High School with the Class of 1944.
On October 7, 1944, she was united in marriage to Melvin H. Starck, he preceded her in death. On July 23, 1973, she was united in marriage to Charles F. Malzahn, he preceded her in death on September 21, 2003.
Helen worked for the F.W. Woolworth Company for 14 years before going to work at H.C. Prange Company for 15 years retiring in 1988.
Helen had a strong faith and was affiliated with Ebenezer United Church of Christ. She was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, The National Society Colonial Dames of the XV11 Century, The United States Daughters of 1812 and The New England Women.
She is survived by her children; Jeanne (John) McGrigg of Muskego, Barbara (Jon) Woodbury of Cornwall, VT, Charles (Carole) Starck of Manitowoc, and Robin (Shawn) Starck of Searcy, AR, nine grandchildren; Robert Sonntag, Christopher Sonntag, Krista (Michael) Matthes, Justin (Toniann) Woodbury, Charles D. Starck, Ben (Monica) Starck, Ted (Erin) Starck, Seth Starck and Aleea Starck, ten great-grandchildren; Alyssa Sonntag, Nathon (Renna) Sonntag, Mackenzie Sonntag and Skyler Sonntag, Zane Matthes, Skylar Matthes, Tabitha Woodbury, Zoey Woodbury, Charles L. Starck, and Hendrix Starck, two step-great-grandchildren Zachary and Jacob, and one great-great-grandson Liam Sonntag. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, husbands and great-granddaughter Nayely Matthes.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Ave., Sheboygan, with Guy Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME.
Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Helen's name.
