Helen McCollum Obituary Helen Eileen McCollum, 98, of Byesville, passed away Thursday (February 13, 2025) at Cambridge Place.
She was born January 17, 1927 in Guernsey County, daughter of the late Everett Cox and Mary Hazel (Edwards) Cox.
A 1944 graduate of Byesville High School, Helen had worked at Cambridge Glass and Westinghouse. She had also been an aide at Byesville Elementary.
She was a lifelong member of the Main Avenue United Methodist Church of Byesville.
Helen enjoyed walking and gardening especially tending to her flowers. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul McCollum, who died June 10, 1997. They were married August 24, 1946. Also deceased are two sons, Paul McCollum and Guy McCollum; three brothers, Harold Cox, William Cox, and infant Howard Cox; and four sisters, Naomi Wentworth, Ruby Ammar, Bernice Moore, and Geneva Wallace.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Steve) Olmstead of Tennessee; two daughters-in-law, Mary Ann McCollum of Byesville and Melinda McCollum of Byesville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday (February 17, 2025) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Debbie Gheen officiating.
Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Helens name be made to the Byesville Main Avenue Methodist Church, 223 Main Street, Byesville OH 43723.
