Helen J Mengle

Helen J. Mengle (nee Taylor) age 91, of North Ridgeville, OH and formerly of Timonium, MD, passed away August 22, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born June 2, 1933, in Willard, OH.
She attended Willard City School system and graduated from Willard High School, Class of 1951. She furthered her education, graduating in 1955 from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She served the community of Bay Village, OH as an Elementary teacher, teaching Second grade in Bay Village School System for 8 years.
Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elyria for the past 15 years, a Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Associate, served as a docent for Mt. Clare Mansion in Baltimore, MD and served for years with the Meals on Wheels program here in Lorain County, as well as an active member for many years in the Eastern Star Lodge.
She is survived by her sons, left to cherish her memory, Andrew (wife, Marlene) Bowers of North Ridgeville, OH and Christopher (wife, Tamberly) Bowers of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Adam Bowers, Travis (wife, Carmen ) Bowers, Lucas (wife, Mandy) Bowers, Natalie Bowers and Grace (husband Tim) Daniel and 5 great granddaughters. She has several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Vary H. Mengle (2019), her sister, Martha Robinson, a brother, James L. Taylor and her parents, Harry D. and Ruth R. Taylor (nee Garrett).
Friends may call for a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Prairie Lodge of Pioneer Ridge Homes, 9479 Saw Mill Trace., North Ridgeville, OH 44039 on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 2pm. The Rev Tennille Powers, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Elyria, will officiate.
Cremation has been entrusted to Busch Funeral and Crematory Services in Elyria, OH.
