Helen Ann Munk

1956 - 2025

Helen Ann Munk, 69, of San Marcos, passed away on August 21, 2025. Born in West Germany on April 22, 1956, Helen was adopted as a young child by Victor and Ruth (Joiner) Munk and grew up in Staples, Texas.

Helen was a graduate of San Marcos High School, where despite her small stature, she was a starter on her high school volleyball team. Helen earned her B.A. in Physical Education from Southwest Texas State (now Texas State University), where she was a proud member of the Sigma Kappa sorority and built lifelong friendships. She worked in physical education at NASA before working as a travel agent for CWT Sato Travel, a role that fed her love of exploring the world.

Helen's faith and community were central to her life. She attended San Marcos Methodist Church and was actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star. Known for her love of politics, Aggie and Dallas Cowboys football, and travel, she brought energy and conviction to every part of her life.

William Shakespeare might have been describing Helen Ann Munk when he wrote, "Though she be but little, she is fierce." Helen will be remembered as a feisty, loyal, and loving woman who never backed down from a fight, yet had the rare gift of making friends everywhere she went.

She is survived by her brothers, Walter and William, her niece and nephew, and many beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by services at 11:00 a.m. at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos. A private family graveside service will follow.
